1)  The first rule of the Roman Empire for slaves is that no slave shall avert their eyes from a Dominii (Free) person of Rome or one who is a visitor.  The Imperator and Augusta believe that you are a human with feelings and that you deserve the right not to look down when near them.  However, if your Master or Mistress insists that you do so with them, then you do.  But never the Emperor or Augusta.

 2)  Slaves of Rome address Dominii (Free persons) other than their own Master or Mistress as Dominus for a male free and Domina for a female free person.  The only person to be addressed as either Master or Mistress by a slave of Rome should in fact BE their actual Master or Mistress.  While the latin terms basically mean the same thing as the english version, this difference emphasizes the special relationship a slave bears to the one who actually owns them as opposed to the showing of respect in a more general fashion.

 3)  All slaves before entering the room will set their back posts on the entry page to at least 15-20 to see where the Dominii (Frees) and other slaves are at in the room and to be able to see where the roleplay is at. It  is embarassing not only for you to kneel at a Dominii' (Free person's) feet if they are in the baths or elsewhere but it can also place your character in dire danger.  Not to mention that it keeps within the roleplay to make sure your first post past your entry is correct. Needless to say, a long drawn out entry post is not recommended either.  Keep it simple and keep it accurate.

 4)  After entering and finding out where everyone is, you will greet individually, and in this order: your Master/Mistress, the Imperator,  Augusta, Rome's Second, Rome's Dominii, then the other Dominii that are in the room, and then and only then the other slaves.  Conversely, upon exiting, once receiving permission to leave if needed, you bid farewell individually in the SAME order as you greeted.  In both circumstances if there are more than 10 people in the room or it is pressing but not an emergency that you leave, you may do a group greeting or farewell to your fellow slaves.

 5)  When it comes to serves in Rome we do things differently from other realms than what you may be used to.  Romans are dominant people; they know what they want and when they want it.  If they want you to do something they will tell you to do it.  So, usually if you are offering to serve something to a Roman it means you have been ordered already to prepare a tray of drinks or food or something by some Dominii Civis (Free Roman) or a Trainer and told to distribute them to those who want them. Because of this the Dominii (FREE) is in the 'driver's seat' as it were as to when and by whom they are served instead of being 'told' by a slave in so many words 'ok bud, this is your chance to get something if you want it and get it while the getting is good'.  It is also FAR more realistic as to how it used to be in real Rome than the jumping to offer serves every five mins.  However, No slave will tell a Dominii (Free) that they cannot serve, unless it is something forbidden by your Owner.
 

 6)  Sexual encounters will only be allowed with those who your Owner will allow and the Imperator and Augusta and those on your list if you are a list slave.  And only to those of Lost Worlds if you are an ~as~ slave.  No ~obs~ will be allowed to interact with you in any way.  You may greet and offer the website and answer questions only if no Dominii (Free) is present.  If a Dominii Civis (Free Roman Citizen) is there please refer them.  All Dominii Civis (Frees Of Rome) are under rules to answer no matter their activities.  A ~ts~ slave is in a chastity belt and may only serve or play sexually with their hands or mouth, and only with those an ~as~ slave is able to.  In all instances, the sexual preferences as to gender you or the other party have 'shall' be respected in all ways.
 

 7)  When a Dominus and or Domina in any mix of the two are together sexually,  you will NOT pm and beg for time.  This time is for them.  If they wish for you to be involved they will call you to them and invite you.  They  too have needs and desires  of each other that need to be met without interference.  If you are found to be doing this you will be placed in a chastity belt until you can show you will not do it again.  You will receive one warning for this.
 

 8)  When leaving, you will ask permission whenever there is a Dominii (Free) or either the servus prima or serva prima who are trainers in the room.  If receiving no answer, you may leave after three numbered posts of asking at the least a minute apart each.  And if neither a Dominii (Free) nor one of the trainers are present you are free to leave without asking.  You shall always use the Leave button as well to exit the room, do not simply X out, as it is rude and leaves your name stuck.
 

 9)  If after finishing a serve and you are free, do not just sit around.  You must do at least one chore a week and make sure it's posted to the slave board here so you get credited for it, before playing with another slave.  Also, chores are an intregal part of your r/p as a slave but there are other avenues to explore as well.  Use your imagination and post something in an interactive manner, even if you have to post doing so with someone who isn't actually there and do their actions/responses for them.  Show you have pride and honor in your home.
 

10)  This is a V/T community, please keep it as such.  If you and your Owner are taking your relationship into R/T please keep it from the room.  Never mix the two in the room.  It not only makes it hard for you but also on the others.  Also, if you are not 'in the mood' to interact in an appropriately slave-like manner due to illness or some other upset.. or any reason, please have the common sense to stay out of the room until you CAN behave appropriately for your station.
 

11)  Jealousies and personal comments to  others or about others will not be allowed in the room, in  the open or in pm.  This is not only unbecoming but also creates friction.  Rome should be a place where all slaves can come and feel comfortable.  Not a place they will shy away from if a certain individual who makes them uncomfortable is there. Got a snide comment?  Keep it to yourself!  Enough said.
 

12)  If for some reason you and your  Master or Mistress do not get along, and you have BOTH tried everything in your power to get along and still can't, come to the Imperator or Augusta and the situation will be dealt with.  This also goes for if you do not get time together because of time differences or if they are not showing up  in the room.  If it is because they  have taken another slave, that is for the two of you to work out.
 

13)  Please leave the ideologies and ways of other realms out of Rome.  No matter your background or experience you are in Rome and will abide by Roman ways and values while here.  There will be no debate on this, leave other realms at the door.
 

14)  The serva prima and servus prima of Rome are here to help you learn what is expected of you in Rome.  The serva prima is in charge over the house slaves or serva/servus domesticus and the servus prima is the lanista or manager/trainer over the gladiatore but they BOTH can help you to learn and if one is not around the one who is will be the one you answer to about slave matters other than the Emperor, Augusta or your Owner.  They deserve and should be shown your respect and attention when speaking to you about matters or in a training session.  Arguing with them over an issue or disobeying a directive from them is the same as arguing with or disobeying the Emperor who set up the rules they are helping you to learn to abide by.
 

15)  Slaves use first person speech in Rome.  Slaves are also held to be fully grown men and women here and being referred to or referring to theirself as boy or girl is not a thing which was known of in Ancient Rome and therefore is not done by slaves in the Roman Empire.  The same holds true of the term 'lil one' (this particular misnomer always makes the 6'8" servus prima look over his shoulder to see who is being referred to when used in reference to him).  While you cannot nor should you try to censor the Dominii (Free) who may use these terms in reference to you, you are held responsible for your own references to yourself and style of speech.
 

16)  While it is recognised that OOC has it's place and there will be times when it is necessary to say something which would be inappropriate at the moment or for a slave to say openly, it is a priviledge not a right to be able to use this and isn't to be abused in that use.  Using either the OOC pulldown emote or some sort of distinguishing marks such as (((what you say))) around words as an excuse to be blatantly disrespectful or argue etc in public, especially when it is an issue you could have taken to PM or Q to discuss in an adult manner, is not allowed.  This pertains to posting to someone other than the one you are serving to while in a serve as well, whether it's a greeting or something else.
 

17)  Last, but not least, we try in Rome to keep things as realistic as we can.  We in turn ask that you do the same.  When in the room, imagine you are in the time period we are portraying, try to learn more about what Rome would have been like in your out of the room times.  Our main website is full of interesting information about the era and the Empire you are a part of now and if you want more knowledge someone will gladly provide you with links, etc to help you grow to know your Home and what your place in it is.
 

These rules are not finite, if necessary there will be alterations or more added if in time the need arises.  Make sure you come back often and re-read these rules.  Now lets go and have fun, which is what this room is meant to be.
